On Friday Alex and I went to see Tropic Thunder. We had already seen Ebert with Roeper and the reviews had been pretty good.

Mom had told me that she read somewhere that the first few minutes of the movie are worth the price of admission. I completely agree.

In case you haven’t seen the movie, the first few minutes are just basically fake trailers with the main stars of the movie who play actors themselves. I think the best one by far was the trailer with Robert Downey, Jr.

Just like I believe that the best performance in the entire movie came from Robert Downey, Jr. There is talk of a possible Oscar nom for him. I certainly hope so because it is well-deserved. He was incredibly funny and present. You could tell he was enjoying himself playing this role within a role within a role. He is an amazing actor and should have won the Oscar for Chaplin. But maybe his time is now.

All of the other actors were very funny as well. Ben Stiller, while he directed, starred in and wrote the screenplay, has a few laughs. He mostly plays it straight and lets the others shine. Which is very generous of him.

The biggest surprise that will knock everyone off their seats is Tom Cruise. I thought he had a cameo in the movie but it’s way more than that. I would dare say he almost has the same amount of screen time as Ben Stiller himself. His role in this movie was hysterical. Totally unexpected and uncharacteristic of Tom Cruise and yet you could tell he loved every minute of it. In fact, he’s so good that Ben decided to make Tom Cruise the last image we see in the movie.

I highly recommend this movie if you just want to have fun and enjoy a good laugh .

Here is a picture of my cute little Mimi after getting a bath from me.

She hadn’t gotten a bath since we got her back in June and she desperately needed one.

The vet told me we had to wait until she got all of her shots before getting a haircut at a grooming place.

She gets her final set of shots next week. So now I have to make an appointment at the local grooming place to get her haircut because it’s way too long.

We want to keep her hair short like a puppy instead of letting it grow out as is customary with Maltese dogs.

Isn’t she just adorable??
